Welcome to the preview of I Fell in Love with a Robot, an experimental short film that blends historical reality with speculative fantasy. Every story has a heartbeat rooted in truth. The foundation of this project belongs to my mother, a young woman who graduated from the Philadelphia School of Design in the 1930s with dreams of becoming a fashion designer. Like many creative women of her generation, her ambitions collided with the realities of the Great Depression and World War II. Instead of haute couture, she navigated the bustling retail world of New York and the marketing departments of legendary Philadelphia department stores like Wanamaker’s and Gimbels, rendering shoes and handbags in pen and gouache to sustain her family.
